Hello. I had an interesting birthday week last week, took the time to enjoy with friends.
My best friend from lab organised a birthday bash which was lit (thank you JiJi ^_^). We dined at Sean's Kitchen at the Adelaide Casino, before heading out for the afterparty. The food and atmosphere was excellent. Who knew Gin and Tonic with cucumber was so cool?! Its great to have to good friends in the workplace.
My friends also organised a boss night for Ed and my birthday. I have had a lot of reccomendations on Wasai Japanese Kitchen, we dined and it did not dissappoint. There are the haves, have nots, and have yachts... we had the Sushi/Sashimi boat (LOL). Fresh and delicious.
It is so true that personal success is connected to the environment we create for ourselves. "You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with". The people you regularly interact with will heavily influence your character and decisions. We are in a way, constructs of all the people we have interacted with in our lifetime. Your friendships should be stimulating you to always learn, whether thats through life experience or something theoretical. I think three friendships are essential, something a little different will rub off from each;
1. someone older than you (to show you the way)
2. someone similar age to you (similar stage in life, to communicate on a knowing level)
3. someone younger than you (to support growing up)
To increase your wins, you need to increase your losses. "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together". I dont have many friends, but the ones I have are good people. Im doing great enjoying life. Shout out to the fam and PhD Eagles, appreciate it.
You can take it as insight, or you can take it as Just BS.
